Wonderful Words from our Simply Stunning Steph!
I’ve been meaning to write a blog now for a while, but I kept getting caught up on what to write. In the hustle and bustle of the semester it can be easy to get overwhelmed and caught up with school and life, that I can forget what it means to be a sister. It’s easy to sit in chapter and disregard the fact that we all have similar goals and a similar passion about music. It’s easy to get catty with other sisters and blame others for faults in our chapter. It can even become easy to disregard SAI as a sisterhood. However, every now and then I am completely overwhelmed with the love of our chapter and our fraternity. Last night at the MIT musicale was definitely one of those moments. Running from five straight hours of rehearsal and class, I was completely exhausted and emotionally drained. As the musicale began to pick up, I realized just how beautiful our pledge class was. Although there were moments when I had teared up (I blame my littles singing Something was Meant to Be together), the tears started flowing when five of our MITs played Fix You as a woodwind quintet. For some reason or another, I have always associated that song with my home and my family but last night hearing the MITs play it, I realized that the terms “home” and “family” don’t always need to refer to Lansdale, Pennsylvania with my Mom, Dad, and Brother. I have found myself a home in Sigma Alpha Iota and I have found myself a second family that loves and supports me even on my roughest days. Lights will guide you home, a home created by seven amazing women and cherished by thousands more. Vita Brevis, Ars Longa.
